Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool passes directly to the outside company that operates it. That provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or other direct message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can cause the server to receive routine technical details about the visit:
- Page-view times and visit duration
- Referring website, when one is supplied
- Device and operating-system type
- Browser name and version
- Pages requested during the visit
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure traffic patterns, including popular pages and exit points. Analytics providers combine that activity into broader performance reports. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a requested search to the selected provider
- Maintain reliable and responsive pages
- Diagnose errors and other technical faults
- Measure which content serves visitors well
- Support advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. Colbert County guidance points to the sheriff, trial courts, ALEA Criminal Justice Information Services Division, and Alabama Sex Offender Registry as the official custodians. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party dossiers.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own policies govern data entered there, including retention and sharing choices that we do not control. Review the provider's privacy terms before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links to the sheriff, court portals, Alabama agencies, legal resources, and search services lead to independent sites. Their privacy terms apply once you leave ours. Read those terms before sharing personal data.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to track activity across websites for tailored advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics vendors measuring use and performance
- Search providers receiving a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving page ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures protect information in our care. No internet system can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. A known minor's submitted data will be removed when brought to our attention.
Your Data Rights
Alabama's public-writings law, Ala. Code §36-12-40, and criminal-history access law, Ala. Code §41-9-636, govern official public writings and subject review of Alabama criminal history. They do not turn this private site into a government records custodian. For information held by us, you may:
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Ask what personal information we retain
- Seek deletion of data where applicable
- Object to certain processing where the law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy as practices change. A new version takes effect when posted here with an updated date.
